CNN reports that Tareq and Michaele Salahi managed to breach security at the White House state dinner two nights ago. Fran Townsend, CNN National Security Contributor, stated in the video below that lying to a federal officer, including telling one that you are invited to a White House event, is considered a federal felony level offense.

I wonder if the White House will press charges. The couple continues to insist via facebook and their publicist (says the couple had "full clearance to attend") that they were in fact invited, while the White House has answered that the couple was NOT invited and their names were not on the guest list. Since the couple went trhough all layers of security (like everyone else who attended), there was little to no threat to the security of the President or other guests. Sounds like a shameless, if not harmless, attempt to get publicity and rub shoulders with the Washington elite.
